Shawn Fairbairn

General Manager

Shawn’s interest in livestock and agriculture started at a young age. He began his career in the feed industry in 1997 working in Western Canada, as a multi-species livestock nutritionist for Wetaskiwin Co-op and New-Life Mills. In 2011, Shawn joined the newly created Poultry Partners team. The vision to work on producer goals and farm specific programs with veterinarians and management specialists appealed to his problem-solving nature. Over the last ten years Shawn has enjoyed working with the evolving team as they work towards increasing communication and transparency within the poultry industry. Shawn lives in Saskatoon with his wife Jen and their two kids.

Dervan Bryan

Nutritionist

Dervan joined Poultry Partners in April 2020. Previously, he was a research associate in the Department of Animal and Poultry Science at the University of Saskatchewan where he completed his Post Doctoral training and a Ph.D. in Poultry Nutrition and Physiology. Dervan has extensive research experience in applied poultry science with over 12 years of experience in monogastric nutrition research. Dervan is delighted to be able to improve the livelihood of our clients through his role as nutritionist and production consultant. One of Dervan’s goals for the poultry industry is to provide measurable economic value to our clients using new research and emerging technology. Dervan is proud of the Poultry Partners team approach to solving clients’ challenges and as such enjoys working closely with the team and our clients to achieve their goals and build long term business relationships.

Jason Kielstra

Field Technician

Jason was raised on a broiler farm west of Okotoks. In 2004 he began managing his family’s broiler farm. In 2011 Jason left the family farm and began to manage a broiler farm north of Crossfield, Alberta. In 2013 while managing the broiler farm Jason joined Poultry Health Services as a part time Field Technician. In 2017 Jason joined Poultry Partners full time. He is passionate about the Canadian Poultry industry and is excited to see the growth and success of the poultry producers he works with. He currently lives on an acreage south of Airdrie with his wife Sharon and seven kids.

Rianna Melan

Field Technician

Rianna joined the Poultry Partners team in September 2020 following her graduation from the University of Saskatchewan where she completed a Bachelor of Science with a major in Animal Science and a minor in Applied Microbiology. Rianna’s excited to have the opportunity to work with a supportive, knowledgeable team and finds her job as a Poultry Field Technician engaging and rewarding. She most enjoys collaborating with different sectors of the poultry industry and working with producers to help them find practical solutions to improve their operations. Rianna grew up in the metro Vancouver area which has given her a unique insight into public perception of the industry. She hopes to be an ambassador for the poultry industry and to help improve public understanding of industry practices. On long drives to visit clients she likes listening to podcasts or discovering new music.

Devon Phillips

Office Administrator

Devon joined Poultry Partners in the summer of ’21, after her family moved to Airdrie in the role of Office Administrator. Her experience working in Veterinarian Management allows her to bring a unique perspective to the team as well as the 10+ years she has worked in office administration. Devon is new to the poultry industry, but she is fortunate to work with a diverse team that are encouraging and collectively aiding our clients with preventative measures for disease control and preservation. Our work is helping to fill the gap between new industry developments and producers. We not only help our clients become successful & sustainable, but we continue to push the boundaries of what is current in our industry.
